Register now for historic Women’s Suffrage conference, April 22 at New Paltz
There are still seats available for the Saturday, April 22, portion of “Women in Politics: Past, Present & Future,” a commemorative conference celebrating the centennial of women’s suffrage in New York State.

The Saturday program will take place at the SUNY New Paltz campus and has been designed to engage both specialist and general audiences. Registration is $35 and includes breakfast and lunch. The deadline to register is April 17.
Attendees are invited to participate in important dialogues on subjects including the history of the state suffrage movement, the role of women in contemporary government, and the work that is yet to be done in enfranchising and engaging women in local, state and national democratic processes.
The proceedings will also feature a keynote address from noted feminist author and activist Barbara Smith.
“Women in Politics: Past, Present & Future,” is a collaborative effort involving The Benjamin Center, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the New York State League of Women Voters and the Rockefeller Institute of Government, with support from the College’s Department of History, Department of Political Science & International Relations, Department of Sociology and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
The conference begins on Friday, April 21, at the FDR Library in Hyde Park, N.Y., with an evening headlined by keynote remarks from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Some seats may still be available for Friday evening; please contact the Benjamin Center to learn more.
The Saturday proceedings will be live-streamed at ruralfreetv.com. A post-conference workshop will be held for K-12 teachers’ curricular development. Conference themes and outcomes will be documented in a future Benjamin Center publication.
