Dorsky Museum makes HuffPo list of Best College Art and History Museums
A recent Huffington Post ranking of world class art museums at colleges and universities in the northeast U.S. named the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz as one of just three sites recognized for New York State.
The museum rankings, authored by travel writer Malerie Yolen-Cohen, describes the Dorsky as “unlike any other regional museum,” and praises the Dorsky’s efforts to “[focus] on lesser-known artists or those who have fallen out of favor.”
The praise from the Huffington Post comes as the Dorsky Museum prepares to launch four new exhibitions for the spring 2017 season:
Intimately Unfamiliar: New Work by SUNY New Paltz Art Faculty (opening Jan. 25)
Carl Walters and Woodstock Ceramic Arts (opening Feb. 4)
Sara Greenberger Rafferty: Gloves Off (opening Feb. 4)
Text/ures of Iraq: Contemporary Art from the Collection of Oded Halahmy (opening Feb. 4)
A public opening reception celebrating these new installments will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Dorsky.
