College announces appointment of John Reina as Chief Information Officer
SUNY New Paltz has appointed John Reina to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Assistant Vice President for Information Technology.
Reina came to New Paltz in 2015 as Director of Network & Systems and brought with him 22 years of IT management experience at KPMG, a global audit, tax and advisory firm. During his career there he led the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art data center that became the first Energy Star-rated data center for Combined Heat and Power, implemented new systems to increase IT efficiency in a variety of areas, and build a new disaster recovery center to reduce the risk of lost data.
Reina has also distinguished himself during his relatively brief time at the College, particularly in his service as Interim CIO following the retirement of longtime CIO Jon Lewit at the end of the spring 2016 semester.
“John has demonstrated to me and to the campus community his IT acumen and his strong leadership abilities,” said Vice President for Administration & Finance Michele Halstead. “We discovered that we had a true gem already in our midst and I’m pleased that John has agreed to assume this critical campus leadership role on a permanent basis.”
