School of Business to host global expert on start-ups and capital investment
SUNY New Paltz will welcome Barak Ben-Avinoam, expert in areas of entrepreneurial business including early-stage investment, technology start-ups and capital fundraising, to speak with students, faculty and members of the business community.
Ben-Avinoam’s visit will take place on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 3 – 5 p.m. in Student Union 401. He will speak on the following topics:
- Intro to Entrepreneurship: What do investors look for?
- Fund Raising 101: How to fund your start up
- Intro to Venture Capital: Pros and cons to working with VCs
Barak Ben-Avinoam is a partner at Benhamou Global Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based early stage venture capital fund that focuses on enterprise IT innovation. He has previously worked at Fastlane Ventures and QuantumWave Capital, in positions that focused on developing markets in Russian and in Paris, France, respectively.
His visit presents students with a rare opportunity to learn first-hand from someone with direct experience in cutting-edge technology entrepreneurship on a global scale.
