Business students speak on food industry conference panel
SUNY New Paltz students Katherine Maglione ’16 (Marketing, Visual Arts), Ema Savic ’16 (Marketing, International Business), Elizabeth Muzyka ’17 (Marketing, Management) and Carolyn Del Bianco ’17 (Marketing) attended the 61st annual convention & business conference of the Frozen & Refrigerated Association of the North East (FRANE), on Sept. 30 in Lake George, N.Y.
“I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to represent SUNY New Paltz at the FRANE convention,” Del Bianco said. “Not only was I able to network with food industry leaders and make connections that may lead to future jobs and internships, but I also gained invaluable information about the industry as a whole that further enforced what I’m already learning in the Food Marketing courses.”
The conference also gave the students a unique opportunity to share their own ideas, through participation on a panel alongside Lecturer Russell Zwanka. Their inclusion on the panel served as a showcase of the early success of new School of Business courses focusing on the food and grocery industry.
“Attending these food-focused events enhances the learning experience of our food marketing students, shows them the vibrancy and attractiveness of the food industry, and builds the College’s credibility with food industry retailers and consumer goods companies,” Zwanka said. “These students made achieving these outcomes easy – our team performed admirably and really impressed the crowd.”
