New Paltz Named to Forbes’ List of America’s Top Colleges for 2016

SUNY New Paltz has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the best colleges and universities in the nation.

The ninth installment of Forbes’ annual rankings of the best colleges and universities evaluates thousands of higher education institutions to produce a list of the top 660. New Paltz placed at number 108 among American public colleges, and number 366 overall among all public and private universities.

SUNY New Paltz was one of only nine SUNY campuses, out of 64 total, that merited inclusion in the Forbes rankings.

“We are again pleased to be included in a list of America’s top colleges and universities by a well-regarded publisher,” said David Eaton, vice president for enrollment management. “Such third party endorsements underscore the value and effectiveness of a New Paltz education. We are further pleased that this ranking is heavily weighted on return on investment metrics, which include graduation rates, student satisfaction, post-graduation success and loan debt.”

The methodology of Forbes’ rankings, compiled by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, focuses primarily on students’ gains relative to the cost of the college experience, meaning inclusion on the list is reserved for colleges that provide highly efficient education and career preparation.
