School of Business celebrates student enterprise at end-of-year ceremony
The students, staff and faculty of the SUNY New Paltz School of Business took a moment at the close of the spring 2016 semester to honor the hard work of excellent graduates-to-be at the School’s Award & Graduation Ceremony on April 29. The event saw the presentation of awards for academic excellence and outstanding service and a traditional induction of new members to the Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society.

“In the midst of the flurry of end-of-semester work, we have the privilege of slowing down to take time to honor our students’ accomplishments,” said School of Business Dean Kristin Backhaus. “This event is a highlight of the year for our School of Business community. As Dean, it is particularly enjoyable for me to recognize each graduate and highlight their favorite memories and proudest achievements.”
The evening’s feature event was the induction of a new class of students to Beta Gamma Sigma. Membership is the highest recognition a student can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.
Business faculty also recognized the performance of students who will graduate at the 2016 Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement Ceremonies this month, and conferred special distinction upon those graduates-to-be who exit with a GPA of 3.8 or higher.
Additionally, a select cohort of 10 students received Outstanding Service Awards, bestowed on those who have demonstrated leadership skills and made meaningful contributions to the College and the School of Business throughout their time at New Paltz.
