Office of Communication & Marketing brings home multiple SUNYCUAD awards
The State University of New York Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) has announced the recipients of the 2016 Awards for Excellence, and the Office of Communication & Marketing (OCM) at New Paltz has been named best in class in multiple categories. The awards recognize the office’s work producing marketing materials in print, photo and video, on the web and on social media.
New Paltz achieved three “Best of Category” awards for its recent Admissions campaign, which was a collaborative effort with the Undergraduate Admission Office. Awards were received for the new Admissions website, prospective student viewbook and individual program prospectuses.
The College received a fourth “Best of Category” award for Internal Communications for the Points of Pride campaign, which launched at the beginning of the fall 2015 semester as a means of informing faculty and staff of the many strengths of various academic programs and administrative units at the College.
“In higher education marketing, getting a fresh, outside perspective is crucial in gauging the appeal and effectiveness of our creative projects,” said Web Content Producer Lindsay Lennon. “So it’s particularly rewarding to win a SUNYCUAD award, because it serves as validation from our industry peers that we’ve successfully communicated the New Paltz story in an engaging and attractive way.”
Additionally, SUNY New Paltz earned Judges’ Citations for photography, the New Paltz Magazine, the Theatre Arts Poster Series, the catalog for the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art exhibition “Andrew Lyght: Full Circle,” the design for the Benjamin Center logo, the OCM Skills Series/OCM 8 campaign and the “#NPaccepted” student enrollment campaign.
Awards for Excellence are bestowed at the annual SUNYCUAD conference, held this year from June 8–10.
“The competition with our SUNY colleagues actually brings us together, encouraging us to share ideas,” said Designer Carmen Calderon. “Winning an award gives us the opportunity to be recognized as a strong and gifted creative team, but win or lose, the competition is a perfect showcase of the creativity across all of SUNY.”
