School of Business celebrates at semester’s close
The students and faculty of the SUNY New Paltz School of Business came together on Dec. 4 to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who will be graduating at the end of the fall ’15 semester.
The School of Business Award & Graduation Ceremony includes the presentation of awards for academic excellence and outstanding service and a traditional induction of new members to the Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year – an opportunity for us recognize our students and celebrate their accomplishments with their families and friends,” said Dean of the School of Business Kristin Backhaus.
Business faculty recognized the performance of students who will graduate in December 2015, and offered special distinction to those graduates-to-be who exit with a GPA of 3.8 or higher.
Outstanding Service Awards were presented to Micaela R. Manteo ’15 (Public Accountancy) and Timothy E. Smyth ’15 (Public Accountancy), who each demonstrated leadership skills and made meaningful contributions to the College and the School of Business throughout their time at New Paltz.
The evening’s feature event was the induction of a new class of students to Beta Gamma Sigma. Membership is the highest recognition a student can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.
