Campus community gives back on Make a Difference Day
More than 300 members of the New Paltz campus community gathered together in support of the local community during Make a Difference Day held on Oct. 18.
According to Mike Patterson, director of student activities & union services, volunteers served at 23 different sites around the region, including Creative Co-Op, Family of Woodstock, Trees for Tribs, YMCA Kingston, Mohonk Preserve, New Paltz ReUse & ReCycle Center, Camp Seewackamano, Ulster Greene ARC, among others. The College also collected more than 400 items and nearly $1,500 benefiting the Ulster County SPCA, Heart of Catskill Humane Society, and the Student Christian Center Food Pantry.
Make a Difference Day is the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations and everyday Americans into action. Millions of Americans across the country are expected to spend this day helping with volunteer projects to improve their communities and help neighbors in need.
