Alumna to give lecture on braille signage and the arts
The School of Fine & Performing Arts at SUNY New Paltz will welcome Diane Bradley ’69 to speak on braille signage and the arts on Thursday, Oct.16, at 5 p.m. in Lecture Center 104. The event is free and open to the public.
Bradley works with TOUCH St. Augustine Braille Trail (Tactile Orientation for Understanding Creativity and History), a public art initiative developed by the St. Augustine Art Association to enhance accessibility to the visual arts through braille signage and audio guides.
As part of her presentation, the documentary film entitled “Touchable Art that Touches the Heart” will be shown.
Bradley holds a bachelor’s degree in art education from SUNY New Paltz and a master’s degree in art education from Nazareth College. She enjoyed a 30-year career as a middle school and high school art teacher before retiring in 1999. In 1999, she moved to St. Augustine, Fla., and joined the St. Augustine Art Association where she teaches art classes to both children and adults. In 2013, she received the ROWITA (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts) Award, which recognizes and honors the contributions women have made to the artistic environment in Saint Johns County. Bradley has served as President of the Board of Directors of the St. Augustine Art Association for six years.
