Center for International Programs hosts annual Study Abroad Fair
The Center for International Programs will host its annual Study Abroad Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union Multipurpose Room (MRP). All members of the New Paltz community—students, administration, faculty, and staff—are welcome to attend.
“The Study Abroad Fair showcases the wide-range of high-quality, affordable, international educational experiences available to our students,” said Christian Wilwohl, study abroad program director.
As part of the institution’s commitment to the Generation Study Abroad Initiative, sponsored by the Institute of International Education, SUNY New Paltz has set a goal of increasing student participation in study abroad to 30 percent by 2020. According to Wilwohl, the study abroad participation rate of students in a credit bearing study abroad experience is currently about more than 20 percent.
“The College has made significant efforts to make international educational opportunities available to all of its students,” he said. “With careful planning and availability of financial aid and scholarships to study abroad, we would like to see even more SUNY New Paltz students take advantage of the educational and life-changing study abroad opportunities we offer.”
