SUNY New Paltz names new senior development officer
SUNY New Paltz announces the appointment of Nicholas Rama as the College’s new senior development officer, effective July 21.
“Nick Rama brings many years of experience both as a development professional and as an entrepreneur to this position,” said Erica Marks, vice president for development and alumni relations. “In addition, as a graduate of the SUNY system and member of the community, he fully understands and appreciates the value of a SUNY New Paltz education.”
After earning his bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland, Rama pursued an entrepreneurial path owning three businesses over a 15-year time frame. In 1996, he started a career at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA)—Hyde Park as a lecturing instructor teaching classes in meat fabrication, supervisory development, organizational behavior, and interpersonal communications. In 2002, Rama pursued an opportunity within the CIA’s Advancement Office which led to experiences and successes in corporate and individual major gift fundraising, advancement services, annual giving, and event management.
“I look forward to meeting and working with all my new colleagues and supporting the great work of the SUNY New Paltz Foundation,” said Rama of his appointment.
Rama, who spent the better part of his life in the Rondout Valley, resides in Cottekill, N.Y. with his wife, Betsy. Their two adult children, Tedd and Emily, both reside and work in Boston, Mass.
