SUNY New Paltz Police Department to conduct active shooter drill
The University Police Department (UPD) at SUNY New Paltz will conduct an active shooter drill tomorrow, June 21, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., on the New Paltz campus. The drill will take place in or around Bouton Hall, an unoccupied residence hall on campus, and will include members of UPD, the New Paltz Rescue Squad, Ulster County Emergency Response Team, and New Paltz Police Department.
UPD Chief David Dugatkin said the drill provides his officers and first responders with an opportunity to stay up-to-date on the newest procedures and technologies when responding to these types of events.
“These are the scenarios that we must train and be prepared for at a moment’s notice,” said Dugatkin. “We want our campus community to be safe and prepared.”
During the drill, Bouton Hall will be closed and off limits to the campus and the general public.
