School of Education to host speaker on classroom technology
The School of Education at the State University of New York at New Paltz will host Lisa Dieker, professor in the Department of Child, Family, and Community Sciences at the University of Central Florida, as the Dean of Education’s 2014 Visiting Scholar on Wednesday, April 23, at 4:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 100 on the New Paltz campus. This event is free and open to the public.
In addition to introducing and demonstrating TeachLivE™, the only mixed-reality teacher preparation environment in teacher education, Dieker will lecture on “Preparation of the Next Generation of Learners: Innovations and Practical Application of Current and Emerging Technology.” Her presentation will provide a glimpse into the future through the use of technologies for student learning and will emphasize innovations in current and emerging technology.
Dieker is a Lockheed Martin Eminent Scholar at the University of Central Florida and was named a Pegasus Professor, the university’s most prestigious honor. She received her undergraduate and master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. Her primary area of research focuses on collaboration between general and special education at the secondary level with a specific interest in the unique opportunities that exist in urban schools in the areas of mathematics and science.
