Hugo the Hawk to defend SUNY Mascot Madness Title
Hugo the Hawk, mascot of the State University of New York at New Paltz, is looking to defend the title of New York’s favorite campus mascot in SUNY’s second annual Mascot Madness competition beginning today, March 11.
The month-long social media-driven competition will see Hugo compete against 42 other SUNY mascots in a standard single-elimination bracket of four divisions with five rounds of voting through April 3. The winning college will take home the Mascot Madness trophy from SUNY.
“Mascot Madness is a unique opportunity for students, alumni, and members of the public to show their pride for SUNY,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “With more than 100,000 votes cast over the course of last year’s contest, Mascot Madness has also proven to be a successful social-media tool that boosts school spirit across our university system. Good luck to this year’s competitors.”
