SUNY New Paltz recognized with three SUNYCUAD Awards

NEW PALTZ – The Office of Communication and Marketing at the State University of New York at New Paltz was recognized by The State University of New York Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) with three Awards for Excellence.

New Paltz was recognized with two Best of Category awards – one in the Media Relations category for its 9/11 Tenth Anniversary Commemorative Events and one in the Student Recruitment Package category for its admissions package that incorporated the elements of print, video and the web. It also received a Judges’ Citation in the Internal Communications Vehicle category for its Middle States Accreditation Marketing Campaign which integrated design, print, video and the web.

Shelly Wright, associate vice president for communication, said the awards reflect the talent of the individuals in the Office of Communication and Marketing. “I was so pleased to learn of these awards. This recognition from professional colleagues is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and creativity of the SUNY New Paltz communication team. These accolades confirm the team’s ongoing success in integrating and strengthening our recruitment, marketing and communication efforts,” said Wright.

SUNYCUAD is a membership organization open to all full-time professionals working in university advancement at the 64 SUNY campuses and SUNY’s System Administration. It promotes understanding and support of SUNY and provides professional development and networking opportunities for professionals in the areas of public relations, alumni relations, publications, electronic communications, development, government relations and marketing.

The Awards for Excellence, which are judged by SUNY colleagues and experts in the field, must meet the following criteria: creativity, innovation, adherence to professional standards, and success in meeting stated objectives with available resources. Best of Category is awarded for exceptional planning and execution of the program or products. In addition, up to two Judges’ Citations can recognize work in each of the categories.

The Awards for Excellence were awarded at SUNYCUAD’s annual conference held in Syracuse, NY, in June.
