New Paltz to co-host SUNY Chancellor Zimpher’s Mid-Hudson Regional Campus Showcase
NEW PALTZ – State University of New York at New Paltz will be featured in SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher’s Mid-Hudson Regional Campus Showcase scheduled for Oct. 18, 2011 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at SUNY Purchase College, Performing Arts Center.
The Mid-Hudson showcase, jointly hosted by Chancellor Zimpher and nine Mid-Hudson SUNY campuses, is the second in a series of 10 such campus showcases planned by SUNY for every region of the state from Oct. 2011 through June 2012. All Regional Campus Showcases are free and open to the public and press.
New Paltz President Donald P. Christian will join Chancellor Zimpher and other SUNY Presidents to celebrate SUNY programs that best exemplify each campus’s unique strengths and innovation and its concomitant impact on the regional economy. New Paltz will be showcasing the Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach (CRREO), Admissions, Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (Dorsky Museum) and the Solar Car. New Paltz’s featured programs exhibit the multifarious ways it is delivering results aligned with the Six Big Ideas of SUNYs five-year strategic plan (The Power of SUNY): SUNY and the Entrepreneurial Century, Seamless Education Pipeline, Healthier New York, Energy-Smart New York, Vibrant Community, and the World.
These campus showcases are a fundamental bulwark of SUNYs strategic plan (The Power of SUNY) and are intended to inform the public of SUNYs talent and the tangible impact of applying innovative ideas, creative resources and cutting-edge programs that are driving New York State’s economic recovery and expanding and enriching the lives of its citizens.
As SUNY enters year three of its strategic plan, The Year of the SUNY Campus, Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher asked each of the 64 SUNY campuses to present a half-day of public programming that highlights their ability to contribute innovative, best-in-class solutions that will help build a stronger economy and a better future for all New Yorkers.
