New Paltz’s Alumni Reunion Weekend brings together graduates, faculty and community
NEW PALTZ – The State University of New York at New Paltz announces the details of their annual Alumni Reunion Weekend scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25. This year the College will honor classes that graduated in years ending in a “one” or a “six,” however, members of all classes are welcome to attend.
This weekend has something for everyone: wine tasting with Steve Kolpan’71, professor and chair of Wine Studies at The Culinary Institute of America; museum gallery talks; tours of the National Historic Landmark District, Huguenot Street; a hike through Mohonk Preserve; class dinners and social-get-togethers; a Mohonk Mountain house brunch; department-sponsored events, athletic competitions, musical entertainment and a one woman performance piece by alumna writer/performer Kelly Kinsella’91. On behalf of the Peace Corps’ 50th Anniversary and other volunteer organizations, there will be a roundtable discussion open to both alumni and the general public to discuss their overall experiences. The College will honor Dr. Heinz Meng, professor emeritus of biology and New Paltz alumna Sadie Penzato ’66, ’68g,’76 CAS at the All Class Luncheon, in the new Student Union Building, Saturday at noon.
Class dinners take place Saturday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Class of ’61 will celebrate their 50th anniversary of graduation with two events: an induction ceremony into the Lantern Society on Friday night and the 1961 Class Dinner, Saturday, 6:30 p.m.
Alumni can conclude their reunion weekend with Sunday brunch at an all-you-can-eat buffet in Hasbrouck Dining Hall at 11 a.m. or in a private dining room in Mohonk Mountain House, 11:30 a.m.
