SUNYAC Tennis All-Conference Teams Released
FREDONA, NY- The 2009 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tennis All-Conference Teams has been released. Earning the honors for the New Paltz Hawks are Montana Wilson, Lindsey Garyn, Alexandria Esposito and Kayla DiPaulo.
Freshman Montana Wilson (Hopewell Junction/John Jay) led the way for the Hawks, earning First Team All-Conference after winning the second singles flight in the SUNYAC Championship. Wilson was seeded second in the tournament with a 10-4 record overall and 6-1 in SUNYAC play. She defeated 2008 SUNYAC Champion Melissa Baker (Geneseo) in the quarterfinals and number one seed Stephanie DiCapua (Cortland) in the championship match.
Junior Lindsey Garyn (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) earned Second Team All-Conference after finishing runner-up in the third singles flight. Garyn was seeded second in the tournament with a 12-2 overall record and 6-1 in SUNYAC play. She lost to #1 seed Julia Passik (Geneseo) in three sets in the finals. Garyn and teammate Stephanie Schara were seeded #1 overall in the first doubles flight in the tournament.
Freshman Alexandria Esposito (Bellmore/John F, Kennedy) earned Second Team All-Conference after finishing runner-up in the sixth singles flight. She posted a 10-4 record overall and 5-2 in SUNYAC play. She defeated #2 seed Katie Wlodarczyk in the semifinal round before falling to #1 seed Sarah Shields (Geneseo).
Freshman Kayla DiPaulo earned Second Team All-Conference after finishing runner-up with teammate Montana Wilson in the second doubles flight. They had an overall record of 11-3 and 6-1 in SUNYAC play. They were seeded second in the tournament and fell to Melissa Baker/Lauren Johnson (Geneseo) in the championship game.
