Women’s Volleyball Defeats Allegheny in the Nazareth Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team finished up the Nazareth Tournament with a 3-1 win over Allegheny College Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks defeated Allegheny to finish fifth place in the tournament.

New Paltz defeated Allegheny by the scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 27-25.  Brittany Coyle (Middletown/Minisink Valley) led the Hawks with 13 kills and eight blocks and Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead) added eight kills.  All-Tournament Team player Stephanie Bova (Central Square/Paul V. Moore) handed out 39 assists to lead the Hawks.  Loren Crabbe (Ballston Spa/Burnt Hills) led with 21 digs and three aces and Priska Wilson (Warwick) added 16 digs for the Hawks.

The Hawks finish the tournament in fifth place with a record of 2-2 in the tournament.  The Hawks improve to 4-4 on season and return to the court for their home opener on Wednesday against Sage College at 7 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
