Hawks Tie Wellesley for Championship; Wellesley Wins on Penalty Kicks, 4-2

WELLESLEY, MA- For the third straight game, freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside/Baldwin) has shutout an opponent on the soccer field.  The Hawks tied Wellesley College in the Championship game, 0-0, but Wellesley wins on penalty kicks, 4-2. 

Shannon Cobb (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) and Samantha Abravanel (Islip) led the Hawks with three shots a piece.  The Hawks were outshot 22-15 in the game, but Vega denied every attempt by the Blue.

Stephanie Vega earned the tie in net and with her fourth shutout on the season and improves to 3-0-2 in goal.  The Hawks improve to 3-1-2 overall and open conference play on Saturday, September 19 against Oneonta at 1 p.m. on Alumni Field.
