Hawks Compete at Williams Plansky Invite
The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross country team traveled to Williams to compete in the Plansky Invitational.
On the women’s side the Hawks finished seventh with a team total of 219 points. MIT won the title with 44 points followed by TCNJ in second place with 54 points.
Junior Lisa Cassaro (West Islip) led the Hawks with a time of 24:45 over six kilometers. Sophomore Danielle Harmon (Pearl River) placed 40th with a time of 25:24 and senior Stephanie Albinksi (Commack), captured 48th place in 26:47. New Paltz’s scoring five included Sarah Wenger (NYC/Beacon) and Rebecca Shuriff (Commack).
The men’s cross country team scored 195 points today to finish eighth. MIT won the title with 31 points to second place TCNJ with 45 points.
Sophomore Joe Gentsch (Staten Island/Curtis) led the Hawks with a time of 27:27 to finish 14th overall. Junior Nick Avello (West Sand Lake/Averill Park) was 37th in 28:14, and first year Mike Zelensky (Waterford/Shenendehowa) finished in 29:21. New Paltz completed their scoring five with Dexter Larsen in 29:47 and Kevin Snyder in 29:56.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday November 1st when they compete at the SUNYAC Championships held at Letchworth State Park by SUNY Geneseo.
