Early second half goal gives Geneseo victory over New Paltz in men’s soccer

GENESEO, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team fell to host SUNY Geneseo 2-1 Friday evening. 

The Hawks were out shot 22-10 during the contest.

Geneseo struck first in the 7th minute when Judah Manetta had a long throw-in that found Kurt Jameson on the goal for the 1-0 lead.

James Altadonna (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) scored his league leading 11 goal on the season off a corner from Sean Reminick (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) in the 21st minute to tie the contest..

The game winner was scored just 19 seconds into the second off by Jason Tartick off a long throw-in pass by Manetta.

Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tallied nine saves in the loss for the Hawks.  SUNY New Paltz falls to 4-5-2 overall and 1-3 in SUNYAC competition.

Jeremy Reeves tallied three saves in net for the win and help improve Geneseo to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in SUNYAC competition.

SUNY New Paltz returns to the field Saturday at 1 pm against Brockport on the Brockport campus.
