New Paltz volleyball stays unbeaten

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The SUNY New Paltz volleyball team stays unbeaten with two victories in the New Paltz Hawks Invitational.  The Hawks in the first match defeated Mount Saint Mary College 25-5, 25-14, 25-7.

Stephanie Bova (Central Square, NY/Central Square) led the team with 11 assists and one ace and Kelsey Garmendia (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) chipped in with ten assists.  Stephanie Skrobach (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) tallied six kills and seven digs and Tara Annunziato (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) added six kills to help the Hawks to victory.

MSMC was led by Katie Toole with nine assists and one dig on the evening and Courtney Kenney chipped in with four kills and four digs for the Blue Knights.

In the second match, the Hawks defeated Keuka College 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.  The Hawks were led by Bova with 35 assists, eight digs and three kills.  Brittany Coyle (Middletown, NY/ Minisink Valley) led the way with 12 kills and Nicole Mercadante (Baldwinsville, NY/ C.W. Baker) tallied three aces and 25 digs for the Hawks who improve to 6-0 overall with the two victories.

Keuka was led by Diana Frank who tallied 26 assists, six digs and one ace and Katy Geers added 23 assists and three digs.
