New Paltz Finishes Sixth in Commissioner’s Cup
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz intercollegiate athletics program finished sixth in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Commissioner’s Cup standings for the 2007-08 school year. The Hawks scored 86.75 points to average 6.67 points per sport in the SUNYAC, improving from their 6.13 average last year.
Points are awarded for regular season and SUNYAC tournament play based on an 11 point system. The first-place team gets 11 points, the second-place team gets 10 points and so on. A team’s regular-season finish will be added to their post-season finish and divided by two for their final total for that sport. The total number of points that a school accumulates is divided by the number of conference sports it has.
SUNY New Paltz won the league crown in women’s tennis and was the league runner up in women’s swimming.
