Volleyball Goes 2-2 at Salisbury Tournament
SALISBURY, MD — The women’s volleyball team traveled to Salisbury, MD to participate in the Salisbury Tournament. On Friday the Hawks defeated Susquehanna in their first match of the day 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 30-26). Junior Amanda Brown paced the offense with 15 kills and Samantha Prudente totaled seven kills. Senior Katie Becofsky dished out 32 assists and 21 digs. In match two, New Paltz fell to Galludet 3-1. The Hawks dropped the first game 30-32 and soared to a 30-21 game two win before falling 19-30 and 16-30 in game three and four, respectively. Brown finished with 13 kills and senior Kim Braga and Prudente each recorded 10 kills. Becofsky handed out 35 assists and Nicole Mercadante collected 29 digs.
On Saturday, New Paltz defeated Messiah 3-1 (25-30, 32-30, 31-29, 30-18). Braga led the attack with 16 kills and five blocks while Prudente finished with 14 kills and 22 digs. Lindsey Brown totaled eight kills and Lauren Hogue collected 22 digs. Becofksy dished out 46 assists, 13 digs and two blocks. The Hawks lost to Salisbury 3-0 (30-28, 30-18, 30-25). Braga finished with eight kills and Prudente recorded five kills and 18 digs. Becofsky handed out 24 assists and 15 digs on her way to earning All-Tournament honors.
The Hawks will return to action on Wednesday October 10th when they host NYU at 7pm on senior night. Come show your support for hawk seniors Becofsky, Braga and Lindsey Brown.
