Men’s Soccer Falls 2-1 in Final Two Minutes
NEW PALTZ, NY — The men’s soccer team hosted Geneseo this afternoon and fell to the Knights 2-1 with 2:02 remaining in regulation. The game was delayed for almost an hour in the first half due to lightning. Geneseo’s Joey Mort scored 32 seconds into the game on a penalty kick for the 1-0 lead. The Hawks had a chance to even the game at 4:27 when first year Joe Rose fired a shot which deflected off the cross bar and then picked up his own rebound and blasted his second change high. New Paltz scored the equalizer at 59:47 on a goal by Sean Reminick. Allan Bronstein fed the ball to Robert Mendes who one touched it to Reminick who fired a shot into the side of the net. Both teams battled hard with Geneseo’s Joe Walter netting the game winner with just over two minutes remaining. The Hawks were outshot 31-18 as first year Peter Carmel made eight saves in net. The Hawks host Brockport tomorrow at 1:00pm.
