Mock HR Court Case on October 18th
NEW PALTZ — Hosted by the Management Association (MA) of SUNY New Paltz and the Mid-Hudson Human Resources Association (MHHRA).

Cost: $20 for students and $30 for professionals. Includes hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet, and dessert. Students may make payment via meal card, cash or check.

Students and professionals are invited to attend the annual Joint Chapter Event held between the Management Association (MA) and the Mid-Hudson Human Resources Association (MHHRA) on Thursday, October 18th at the College Terrace of SUNY New Paltz. The evening will include a networking session, dinner, workshop, and giveaways. The event will be highlighted by a workshop consisting of a mock human resource court trial and a post-verdict discussion on the case. Students will have an opportunity to network with business professionals of MHHRA and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
The mock trial facilitators will include Susan Corcoran and Tom McDonough, Partners of Jackson Lewis LLP, a national workplace law firm. Corcoran is a member of the Bars of the State of Connecticut and New York, and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Courts in New York and Connecticut. She is a member of the New York, Connecticut, Westchester Women’s Bar Association (“WWBA”), and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. Corcoran has practiced exclusively in the area of employment and labor law, and regularly litigates or defends administrative matters on behalf of the firm’s clients. She counsels clients on a variety of workplace law matters, and serves as a firm expert and resource on nationwide policy development and background investigations.
McDonough is a member of the New York State Bar and its Labor and Employment Law section and a member of the firm’s Labor and Public Sector practice groups. He counsels employers on a wide range of labor and employment law issues and regularly negotiates collective bargaining agreements for public and private sector employers. He also provides ongoing advice to clients on contract interpretation and represents them in grievance arbitration proceedings. McDonough regularly trains managers and supervisors on labor relations, wage and hour laws, sexual and other forms of harassment, best employment practices, and other workplace law matters. He also helps clients develop effective employment policies and procedures designed to avoid workplace issues and minimize their exposure to costly litigation.
The Management Association is the SUNY New Paltz student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and MHHRA is its SHRM sponsoring professional chapter.
