HR Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship Recipient Announced

NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz and the Mid-Hudson Human Resources Association (MHHRA) are pleased to announce that Lauren Guido has been selected as the recipient of the 2007-2008 HR Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship. The $750 scholarship was established in 2006 by MHHRA to recognize and encourage SUNY New Paltz students who are interested in pursuing a career in the profession of human resource (HR) management. Preference is given to applicants who are active student members of the Management Association, the SUNY New Paltz student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

In May of 2007, Lauren graduated from SUNY New Paltz with her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management. She was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society and received the Academic Honor Award as a School of Business student. In August of 2007, Lauren will begin pursuing her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Management at SUNY New Paltz. She currently is an executive board officer of the Management Association, and serves as the student association’s Programming Chair. Prior to attending SUNY New Paltz, Lauren was a graduate of Kingston High School and Ulster Community College.

"I am sincerely grateful and appreciative to be the recipient of this wonderful honor and valuable award that support students pursuing a career in the Human Resource Management field," said Lauren. "I will work extremely hard to maintain the standards of this scholarship through academic performance, organization participation, and community service involvement."

In addition to her academic achievements and being active in extracurricular and community service activities, Lauren has also interned as an HR Generalist for Gateway Community Industries Inc. In this role she has worked with the Director of Human Resources, the Benefits Specialist, and the Training and Recruitment Specialist performing everyday HR functions. Her career objective is to enter the human resource management profession.

MHHRA is an organization, affiliated with SHRM, based in Dutchess and Ulster counties of New York State for HR professionals. The association is dedicated to the advancement of the HR profession and the development of HR professionals in the community.

MHHRA is the sponsoring professional SHRM chapter for the SUNY New Paltz Management Association. This affiliation provides SUNY New Paltz students with an opportunity to explore the field of human resources (HR) as a career and to learn more from HR professionals about the HR function in business. This forum enhances educational opportunities for students to gain ideas, information, and skills, as well as the opportunity to develop job contacts and participate in professional internships.
