Coombs and Fleckenstein Named MVPs
NEW PALTZ, NY — Michelle Coombs was selected as the MVP for the women’s swim team, as she became the first female SUNY New Paltz national champion. She claimed the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.84, and touched second in the 100 backstroke (56.59) and third in the 50 free (23.46). Coombs is a six-time All-American and a four-time conference champion.
Junior Johnny Fleckenstein was named the 2006-2007 MVP for the men’s swim team, as he guided the Hawks to a fourth place finish at the SUNYAC Championship Meet. Fleckenstein finished third in the 400 IM (4:18.96), fourth in the 200 breast and was part of the fourth place 800 free relay. He was named to the All-Conference second team.
