Hawks Fall in Semifinal of ECAC

BROOKLINE, MA — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team traveled to Newbury College for the ECAC Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Hawks faced the No. 2 seeded Raiders of Rivier College and lost in the semifinals with a final score of 3-1 (23-30, 30-27, 21-30, 22-30). The Raiders came out ready to play and took the win in the first game. The Hawks fought back and ended up on top in the second game. From there it was all Raiders as they took the next two games to seal the semi-final victory.
The Hawks were led by rookie Stephen Pendleton (Oneida, NY/Oneida) who recorded 5 digs, 3 blocks and dished out 35 assists in his last match this season. Fellow teammate Joshua Spiro (Island Park, NY/West Hempstead) contributed 7 kills and 2 blocks in the loss.
