Women’s Basketball Claims 60-58 SUNYAC Win Over Buffalo State
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks claimed their second SUNYAC win in as many days with a 60-58 showing against the Buffalo State Bengals. First years Carly Minehan and Nicole Sarcone led the way for the Hawks with nine points each. Senior Kristin Jackson hauled down a team high eight boards, five coming on the offensive end. Chelsea Clarke, Amber Sohns, and Kristen Sitek each chipped in with eight points.
As a team, the Hawks committed 28 turnovers but made up for it as they shot an impressive 75.8% from the charity stripe on 25-33.
New Paltz led 33-30 at halftime but the Bengals evened the score at 48-48 with 6:45 remaining, but then fell behind again by eight points with 2:24 to play. Buffalo State rallied back to 59-58 with eight seconds remaining, but New Paltz held on for the win.
The Hawks will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Utica to take on the SUNYIT Wildcats.
