Hawks Defeat Blue Devils 61-58 in SUNYAC Opener
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks men’s basketball team held on for a 61-58 win over the Fredonia State Blue Devils Friday night. Amseshem Foluke-Henderson recored a double-double on the night with 13 points and 13 boards, including four steals. Tony Cannon added a team high 16 points and hauled down five rebounds. Seniors John Hauser and Matt Irwin chipped in with nine points each.
The Hawks held a 29-28 halftime advantage and were up by as many as 12 in the second half with 16:04 left. Fredonia crawled back to within two at 58-56 with 2:35 left but that’s as close as they would come as New Paltz battled hard on both ends of the court to preserve the win.
New Paltz will return to the court Saturday afternoon at 4 pm to take on the Buffalo State Bengals.
