Hawks Fall 3-0 on Senior Day
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks field hockey team hosted the William Pateron Pioneers at the Sports Dome in Milton, NY on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Nicole Kovac (Manlius, NY) and Justine Fairclough (Glen Cove, NY) played their final game as a Hawk as SUNY New Paltz finished the season with a 6-12 overall record after falling to the Pioneers by a score of 3-0.
Junior forward Danielle Herbek (Lincoln Park, NY/Boonton) scored twice for the Pioneers in 48 seconds to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Herbeks first goal came unassisted at 22:32 after a scramble off a corner. First year Jodie Feriod (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) assisted on the second off a corner, which Herbek knocked into the lower right of the cage.
In the 32nd minute sophomore Meghan Hall (Turnersville, NY/Washington Twp.) took a through ball from classmate Katie Jo Cipriani (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) and flicked it into the lower left corner of the cage for the 3-0 lead which would carry into halftime.
SUNY New Paltz outshot William Paterson 5-1 in the second half but where unable to capitalize.
Kovac posted two saves in net for the Hawks. Grace Browne (Hackensack, NJ) and Christina Auger (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hill) shared time in net with Browne posting one save in 62:23 and Auger making two saves in 7:37.
