Women’s Volleyball Goes 2-0 in Day One of Hawk Invite
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team hosted day one of the Hawk Invite today. The Hawks faced off against the Farmingdale Rams at 4:00 and won 3-0 (30-24, 30-14, 30-25). They then went on to defeat Morrisville 3-0 in the 6:00 match up (30-7, 30-10, 30-11).
In match one against Farmingdale, Amanda Brown (South Glenn Falls) led the Hawks in kills with seven. Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and Franchesca Rodriguez (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) each registered six kills, with Clouston collecting 13 digs. First year Brittany Coyle (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) chipped in with five kills and Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY/Schalmont) handed out 29 assists.
Leading the way for Farmingdale was Gina Moscato with eight kills, six digs and Colleen Mackey with seven kills. Falon Taddeo dished out 25 assits.
In match two, against Morrisville, middle hitter Kim Braga (Long Beach) registered eight kills on nine attempts. Clouston added seven kills, while Kate Roche (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) tallied five service aces.
Madison Cassidy lead Morrisville with three kills and two digs. Jessica Robinson handed out four assists.
New Paltz will be back in action for day two of the Hawk Invite at 10 am when they face Oneonta. They will then face Elmira at 2:00 p.m.
