Women’s Soccer falls to Ramapo 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team was defeated by Ramapo 3-0 this afternoon in a non-conference match-up. New Paltz falls to 1-1-1 overall heading into their next match-up on Saturday, September 9th when they face St. Joseph’s (LI) at 4:30 p.m. on the road. Ramapo improves to 2-0-1.

The game remained scoreless until the 21st minute when Ramapo sophomore midfielder Shana Egan (Pearl River, NY) deflected a shot off a New Paltz defender and into the net for a 1-0 lead. Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville) blocked four shots in the first half, while Ramapo’s junior goalkeeper, Samantha Gribben (Pequannock, NJ) also blocked four shots in the first half holding the Hawks scoreless.

In the final half of play, Egan struck again posting her second goal of the year at 49:59, unassisted. The Hawks were unable to hold the Roadrunners allowing a third goal in the half when junior Jessica Giordano (Oakland, NJ) dribbled up the middle and laid one off to senior Meghan Farrell (Monroe Twp., NJ) who hit the back of the net at 64:09.

The Hawks were outshot 8-1 in the second half. Gribben finished with four saves in net for the win, while Boccard posted eight for the Hawks.
