Hawks Outshot by Violets in 2-0 Loss

NEW YORK, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks were defeated by New York University 2-0 this afternoon at Pier 40 on West Houston Street in Manhattan.

The Hawks could only manage four shots against the impenetrable defense of NYU, as NYU took 14 attempts at the net.

Senior Max Sachar opened the scoring at 24:31 after receiving a pass from close range from senior Antonio Trillo.
The Violets’ second goal was scored by junior Jeritt Thayer at the 35:39 mark. His header off a corner kick from Sachar closed out the scoring.

Senior goalkeeper Jeff Dudley (Spackenkill/Poughkeepsie) played the entire match and recorded five saves to take the loss in nets, while sophomore Chris Wright made three saves to preserve the shutout for the win.

New Paltz host Farmingdale on Wednesday, September 6 at 4:00 p.m. on Alumni Field.
