McPartlan First Hawk to Earn SUNYAC Softball Player of the Week
FREDONIA, NY — Senior first baseman Liz McPartlan (Huntington Station, NY) has become the first Hawk to receive Player of the Week Honors for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). McPartlan earned recognition for the week ending April 16; the SUNYAC has been awarding weekly awards since the 2000-2001 collegiate year.
Leading SUNY New Paltz to an 8-0 week, McPartlan batted .545 (12-for-22) with three doubles, a triple and a home run. The Hawks swept four straight doubleheaders with McPartlan leading the way. She totaled ten RBI on the week, while picking up her 100th career hit with a fifth inning single in a 7-0 defeat of SUNY Purchase. McPartlan opened the week going 5-for-7 against Russell Sage; she collected two doubles and a homerun as she knocked in six runs. The Hawks closed out the week sweeping Potsdam in a SUNYAC doubleheader. McPartlan was 4-for-5 on the afternoon, with a triple and two RBI, to raise her career hit total to 104. She is currently fifth on the Softball All-Time Career Hits list with 12 games remaining on the regular season schedule.
So far in 2006, McPartlan is leading the Hawks in three offensive statistical categories. She holds team-highs in doubles (8), homeruns (1) and runs batted in (17). McPartlan is batting .303 (23-for-76) with a .474 slugging percentage. She has started at first base in all 26 of the Hawks games in 2006.
