Stith Named ECAC Division III Upstate Pitcher of the Week
CENTERVILLE, MA — After capturing the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending March 26, sophomore pitcher Jeff Stith (Selden, NY) earned recognition from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as the Division III Upstate Regional Pitcher of the Week. In two starts last week, March 20 through 26, Stith earned two wins pitching 13 innings of scoreless baseball.
Stith helped SUNY New Paltz to a 6-2 week, including a 4-2 record on their spring trip to Fort Pierce, Florida. Against Earlham on March 20, Stith allowed three hits and four walks, while striking out 12 to pick up his second victory of 2006. Later in the week, March 26, Stith earned his third win of the year with a complete game two-hit shutout of SUNY Purchase. Against the Panthers, he struck out 11, while only walking three.
Stith was one of two Hawks who earned SUNYAC recognition for the week ending March 26. Junior third baseman John DeKams (Kings Park, NY) took home the conference Hitter of the Week award for impressive offensive prowess over the past week. The Hawks are currently 11-8 as the head into their first weekend of SUNYAC play.
