Four New Paltz nursing graduate students receive full scholarships
NEW PALTZ — Four students enrolled in the graduate nursing program at the State University of New York at New Paltz were recently awarded the Senator Patricia K. McGee Nursing Faculty Scholarship.
Valerie Collins of New Windsor, Harriet Koral of Kerhonkson, Lisa Schulte of High Falls and Cheryl Spurling-Scott of Tillson each received the competitive, statewide scholarship based on their academic achievements. Recipients must be registered professional nurses enrolled in a master’s program.
The scholarships fund three years of graduate-level education in nursing. Award recipients agree to provide at least 12 academic credit hours or the equivalent as nursing faculty or as adjunct clinical faculty provided for four years at an institution in New York State upon the completion of their degree.
The scholarship was created in memory of McGee – who served the 57th district in western New York – to increase the number of educators and adjunct faculty teaching nursing education in New York State.
