SUNY New Paltz Men’s Basketball Goes Down To The Red Dragons
ONEONTA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team split their season schedule with conference rival Oneonta after this evening’s 72-47 loss.
Junior forward John Hauser (East Williston, NY) provided SUNY New Paltz (4-13, 1-8) with a 12-point second half effort. The Hawks pulled to within ten points midway through the second half, but it was not enough to overcome Oneonta. Hauser finished the contest with 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Hawks. Freshman forward Luke Robinson (Dix Hills, NY) tied his career-highs in points and rebounds, totaling nine points and three boards in the loss.
Oneonta (7-9, 2-6) posted a 20-point, 34-14, lead at halftime thanks to the defensive efforts of junior forward Jaysen Murphy (East Elmhurst, NY). The Red Dragons held the Hawks to a 25.8 percent shooting from the field for the night. Murphy totaled a double-double with ten points and 14 rebounds, while collecting four blocks. Senior guards, Sean Coffey (New Paltz, NY) and Josh Wysocki (Hoosick Falls, NY) each scored 12 points for the Red Dragons.
The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team will host Brockport this Friday, January 27, in an 8:00 pm conference affair.
