SUNY New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Team Bounced By Brockport
CORTLAND, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team lost in the semifinals to Brockport 3-0 at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament at Cortland this afternoon.
SUNY New Paltz (28-11) struggled early dropping the first two games to Brockport (18-17), 18-30 and 19-30. In the third game, the Hawks began to take control but could not prevail losing 31-33. Leading SUNY New Paltz with a balanced attack, senior middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) tallied seven kills and three blocks. Sophomore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) provided a spark for the offense with 27 assists.
The Hawks seeded number two, surpassed last years performance where they dropped the opening round match to Geneseo. The SUNY New Paltz women?s volleyball team will be awaiting the possibility to extend their post season with a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament on November 12th and 13th.
