SUNY New Paltz Women’s Cross Country Participates at ECAC Meet
WATERFORD, CT — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz women’s cross country team competed in the 2005 Men’s and Women’s Division III Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Cross-Country Championship at Harkness Memorial State Park, hosted by Connecticut College. The Hawks came away with a 15th place finish in a 29-team field. The SUNY New Paltz women placed 10th at the 2004 ECAC Championship out of a field of 24.
Placing 76th out of 227 runners, senior Kate Choromanksi (Shelton, CT) paced the SUNY New Paltz women’s cross country team to a 15th place finish at the ECAC Championship. Choromanski completed the six-kilometer race in 24:54; she finished with the Hawk’s second best time in 2004 (25:14) in 61st place. The Hawks had five other runners cross the finish line in the top 150; freshman Stephanie Albinski (Commack, NY) placed 110th in 25:56, junior Kelly Dunphy (Hauppauge, NY) came in at 118th in 26:10, sophomore Winter Eyres (Selkirk, NY) completed the race in 26:24 for a 125th place finish, junior Jessica Waterbury (Mount Siani, NY) came in 137th in 26:45, and freshman Emily Nyburg (Greenlawn, NY) crossed the line 149th with a time of 27:17.
With the completion of today’s ECAC Championship the following SUNY New Paltz runners have participated in their final collegiate race; Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT), Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY), and George Correa (Central Islip, NY).
