SUNY New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Team Competes at SUNY/Liberty
SARATOGA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team participated in the SUNY/Liberty conference crossover today at Skidmore College.
In the 4:00 pm match the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team defeated Union (5-23) in three games. The Hawks took the first 30-20, the second 30-26, and the third 30-23, for the 3-0 victory. Senior middle hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) and junior outside hitter Franchesca Rodriguez (Schenectady, NY) led the Hawks with 12 kills apiece. Sophomore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) totaled 38 assists in the match and senior libero Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) recorded 21 digs.
The Hawks faced Baruch (11-9) in the 6:00 pm match. SUNY New Paltz swept the Bearcats 3-0, winning the first game 30-22, the second 30-18 and the third 30-15. Sophomore middle hitter Kim Braga (Long Beach, NY) led the Hawks with nine kills; freshman outside hitter Amanda Brown (South Glens Falls, NY) added eight kills. Junior setter Jennifer Hembury (Montgomery, NY) facilitated the Hawk’s offense with 27 assists.
The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team recorded two wins for the State University of New York Athletic Conference and will continue to compete at the SUNY/Liberty Conference Crossover at Skidmore College.
