No. 4 Ranked NYU Defeats SUNY New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Team
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Violets of New York University. In the latest College Sports Television/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, NYU was nationally ranked #4 in division III.
After a slow start NYU (21-2) began to pull away and took the first game 30-18. SUNY New Paltz (16-6) gave the Violets stiff competition in the second game, but came up short, losing 30-25. Midway through the final game of the evening the Hawks found themselves tied, however, NYU managed to overcome and win the third game 30-19.
Senior outside hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) led the Hawks with six kills and five blocks. Junior right side Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY) also added six kills in the loss. Sophomore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) provided an all around effort finishing the evening with 15 assists and 12 digs.
The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team will participate in this weekend’s, October 14 and 15, SUNY/Liberty Conference Crossover at Skidmore College.
