SUNY New Paltz Women’s Tennis Team Blanks Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team picked up their second straight conference victory, in as many days, with a 9-0 win over Plattsburgh.

The Hawks swept both doubles and singles play against conference rival Plattsburgh (0-2) a day after doing the same to Potsdam. At number one singles sophomore Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Freshman number two, Dana Lim (New City, NY), defeated sophomore Justine Higgins (Plattsburgh, NY) in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Katherine Ketigian (Garden City, NY) extended her personal career record to 2-0, at number three singles, with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over junior Angela Roy (Ballston Spa, NY). Senior Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) beat sophomore Danielle Circelli (Plattsburgh, NY) 6-1, 6-2 at number four singles. Junior Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) took number five singles in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over senior Amanda Oliver (Delmar, NY). Freshman Bianca Ferrantelli (Lido Beach, NY) won number six singles 6-3, 6-1.

At number one doubles Yamakawa and Lim set the pace with an 8-0 win. Fenton and Larson secured an 8-1 victory over Roy and Oliver at number two doubles. Sisters, Ashley and Lindsay Triffiletti (Mamaroneck, NY), combined to pick up their second win at number three doubles with a 8-2 triumph.

The SUNY New Paltz (2-0) women’s tennis team will host Manhattanville for their home opener on Friday, September 9.
