SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Tallies Second Straight Win
MADISON, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team tallied its second win in a row this evening with a 5-1 defeat of Centenary College at the Drew Fall Festival.
The Hawks opened the scoring with 13:04 remaining in the opening half. Freshman Jose Reyes (Newburgh, NY) netted his first goal as a Hawk off a pass from junior defenseman Daniel Cocciardi (Stormville, NY). Before halftime SUNY New Paltz (2-0) would add two more goals. Freshman forward Chris Hotzak (St. James, NY) tallied his first career goal and junior midfielder Jason Irish (Newburgh. NY) scored his second goal in as many games to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.
The SUNY New Paltz offense continued to dominate play in the second half, opening up a five-goal lead with goals from junior forward Joe Fabian (Selden, NY) and sophomore forward Richard Randall (Spenceport, NY), who was assisted by Irish.
Centenary College (0-1) managed to sneak a late goal past freshman goalkeeper Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY). Sophomore midfielder Andrew Clifton (Flanders, NJ) provided the Cyclones only offensive strike.
Tomorrow, September 4, the Hawks will play the winner of today?s late game, between Drew University and Moravian, for the championship of the Drew Fall Festival.
