SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Falls to Drew University
MADISON, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team (2-1) had their two game winning streak come to an end in a 5-0 loss to Drew University (2-0) this afternoon at the Drew Fall Festival.
Senior forward Derek Swanner (Monroe Township, NJ) scored Drew University’s only goal of the first half with 24:10 on the clock. Although unable to capitalize on any of their four shot attempts, SUNY New Paltz held the game within reach with a score of 1-0 entering the second half. The Rangers would go on to net four goals in the second half taking advantage of SUNY New Paltz who has played three games in four days. The Hawks were unable bounce back from the aggressive offense of the Rangers, who outshot SUNY New Paltz 11-6.
Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY) recorded five saves for the Hawks pushing his total for the Drew Fall Festival to seven. Carlucci has tallied sixteen total saves including a shutout in the first week of his collegiate career.
SUNY New Paltz returns to action on Wednesday September 7, when the Hawks will travel to SUNY Farmingdale.
