SUNY New Paltz Women’s Tennis Team Adds Another Win at Stevens
HOBOKEN, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz womenýs tennis team defeat Stevens Institute of Technology this afternoon, 6-3. With the win the Hawks improve to 10-2 on the year and 3-0 this spring.
In singles play Senior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) lost 6-1, 0-6 in the first flight. Senior Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) fell in the second flight 4-6, 4-6. Freshman Alexandra Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) took the number three singles 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) won 6-2, 6-1 in number four singles. In the fifth flight, Laura Thomas (Hyde Park, NY) came out on top 6-0, 6-0 and in number six singles junior Sara Goldstein (Merrick, NY) won 7-5, 6-0.
The Hawks (10-2) took two out of three in doubles play. Farrell and Fenton lost in number one doubles 8-5. In number two doubles, Goldberg and Larson won 8-1 and in the third flight of doubles play Goldstein and Thomas won by a final of 8-5.
The SUNY New Paltz womenýs tennis team will compete next at the William Smith Tournament, next weekend, April 23 & 24.
